TRACE / ENGINEERING SOFTWARE / REVIT

Early prototype

Trace

From drawing markup to model change.

I’m building a Revit add-in and PDF markup workspace to help engineers turn drawing markups into reviewed model changes.

Trace proposed workflow: a drawing markup leads to a proposed model change for an engineer to review. The complete workflow is still being validated.

01 / THE PROBLEM

The problem.

Engineers mark up drawing sets, and someone then makes every change in the model by hand: finding the right spot, placing the right family and following the firm’s conventions. Most markups say exactly what to do, but each one still takes time to carry out.

02 / MY CONTRIBUTION

What I worked on.

  1. 01

Spoke with junior and senior engineers about how drafting and review work happens, and turned their feedback into review, approval and data-privacy requirements.

  2. 02

Developed the Revit add-in, local bridge and separate PDF markup workspace, alongside proposal safeguards and checks against exported model facts.

  3. 03

Designed the workflow around engineer review, explicit approval and local processing. I’m validating how those components work together in Revit.

03 / PROGRESS & RESULTS

Where it stands.

As of the 13 October 2026 review, the add-in, PDF workspace and automated component checks are in place. The full markup-to-model workflow still needs validation in Revit. My next step is testing that complete workflow with sample models before any live project use.
